I wasn’t born in Queensland – quite the opposite, I was born in Tasmania. However, I have chosen to make my home on the Gold Coast for the last six years. Why do I love it so much you may ask?
A classic childhood favorite, caramel slice, is a birthday staple in our household. Every year (and many times in between) the rolling pin comes out in preparation for the creamy, yummy slice. If you aren’t so confident with pastry making (if you haven’t tried, you should give it a go), there are pre-made gourmet sweet shortcrust pastry rolls you can buy from your local delicatessen or gourmet food shop in the frozen section. Caramel Slice – makes 16 slices using […]
So every family event my sister-in-law Alyssa whips up beautiful, perfect individual chocolate mousses! Mint chocolate, Choc-honeycomb, top deck (white & milk chocolate) – the flavour combinations are endless when you think about it. I’ve made many a chocolate mousse in the kitchen, but it’s always a gamble with whether they set or not – this fail safe recipe is so easy you can whip up after work, or even while on holidays, and enjoy a few hours later! Alyssa’s […]
Who has a friend who loves to bake & cook? Me! I’m not too shabby in the kitchen myself, however my friend never fails to amaze me with her luxurious, even decadent baked goods. There’s always some amazing treat to match any occasion. Yesterday she made Chocolate Fondants. And I just have to share the recipe with you. I can imagine snuggling up on the couch after dinner at Wanaka, Torquay or Seven Mile Beach, enjoying this lovely treat. Kerrianne’s […]
Holidays with Kids aren’t generally about day spas and lounging by the pool – but they are exhilarating and exhausting at the same time. As a parent, when I’ve spent a day making memories, educating and generally making Hendrix happy, I like to top it off with a healthy meal – makes me feel like I’ve really got this parenting thing covered.
Since becoming a parent, there are certain things I’ve had to “rethink” about myself. Other parents may be able to relate. For instance, prior to parenthood, I didn’t consider myself a person who wore runners. Now I cherish them – for their amazing ability to help me keep up! I also considered myself someone who ate at hip and funky restaurants. That’s been on the backburner for a little while, however last year we discovered Black Coffee Lyrics – a […]
The appeal of WorldMark South Pacific Club Resorts is the variety of high quality self contained apartments that specialise in the” home away from home” feeling.
Last time I mentioned how I loved school holidays because it gave me a holiday from making school lunches. I realised afterward that this is a double edged sword. A break from making lunches means a break from controlling what Hendrix (that’s his name – now that we know each other ‘my son’ sounds so formal !) puts into his tummy.
As you might be able to tell by now, I’m a bit of a ‘purist’ when it comes to food – especially French food. While the French vinaigrettes you buy in the supermarkets are OK, they just don’t taste authentically French to me. There are also a lot of preservatives in these products so here is a way to create your own French vinaigrettes using the right ingredients that will bring wholesome flavours to your salad.
Very few French women I know are likely to go on a diet, unless desperately in need of losing weight or possibly victim of obsessive body image. In France meals play a big part of your day. Firstly you need to be seated – no matter how much time you have, that time needs to be peaceful and dedicated to enjoying the food and all that goes with it = reading a good book (if you’re on your own), conversing […]
