4 ways to celebrate the shortest day of the year

06/20/2014 by Erin

Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere is upon us, it is ‘Winter Solstice eve’ – June 21st will be shortest day of the year, with just 9 hours and 30ish minutes of sunlight.   So, how are people celebrating the shortest day this year? Winter festivities are taken to a whole new level with Dark MOFO, hosted by MONA in Hobart. Music, movies, amazing food & drink – and of course – top off the 2 Degree evening with the […]

Two years of your My Club!

03/14/2014 by Jacqi Holloway

This month we celebrate two years of the My Club Blog!  Two years that we authors have had the gift of sharing with you our ideas and excitement about all things WorldMarkSP and Holidays.  Thanks so much for coming with us. Your most popular posts Posts about Denarau Island.  This is a topic close to many of your hearts.  Especially during the construction of Phase III. We think Fiji Phase III was definitely worth being interested in. Speaking of Fiji, […]

Eat, drink & explore the Apple Isle – Tasmania

02/19/2014 by Erin

“Give me your tired, your stressed Your city souls and spirits yearning to breathe free; The gloomy work-weary of your teeming shore, Send these, the overworked, Holiday-deprived to me I open my lands in welcome, the land of the Apple Isle! “ Inspired by the inscription on the Statue of Liberty Tasmania Australia is more than special – its unique landscape, picturesque beaches, historic ruins, pristine air and all round beauty make it one of the best, yet least explored, […]

A special Fiji Christmas.

01/23/2014 by Jacqi Holloway

I know that many of our WorldMarkSP Owners generously donate to the people of Fiji when they visit, and have been particularly generous when natural disasters have struck.  The staff at  Denarau Island are also involved, and recently donated $4,000 to Loloma Home. Located just outside of Nadi Town in Fiji, Loloma Home is a refuge for desperate mothers and their children and also cares for orphans, the homeless and the elderly. The donation was an initiative of the resort sales and […]

there’s 52 weekends a year : planning to use them to the fullest

01/17/2014 by Erin

2014 is shaping up to be a year where my balancing scales – relationships / health / career – will be put to the test! With my partner heading north – seizing a fantastic job opportunity, which takes him away for the majority of days in a month; my health, post major surgery last year, feeling great… but weak and needing conditioning; and, as with everyone, finding the passion to not only do my job, but to do it with […]

What a Wonderful World

11/20/2013 by Jacqi Holloway

In many ways we’re pragmatic parents.  Our approach to forming a strong, kind and caring  human being is to have frank (without creating fear) discussions about the world around us, and the people who inhabit it.  Although Hendrix worked out for himself reasonably early that Santa and the Easter Bunny were made up, I like to think that his childhood still has had moments when he’s been filled with a sense of wonder and awe at our world. For instance, […]

Childhood classic caramel slice

Childhood classic caramel slice

09/20/2013 by Kerrianne Mackay

A classic childhood favorite, caramel slice, is a birthday staple in our household. Every year (and many times in between) the rolling pin comes out in preparation for the creamy, yummy slice. If you aren’t so confident with pastry making (if you haven’t tried, you should give it a go), there are pre-made gourmet sweet shortcrust pastry rolls you can buy from your local delicatessen or gourmet food shop in the frozen section. Caramel Slice – makes 16 slices using […]

“Green thumbs up” all round at Wyndham Flynns Beach.

09/06/2013 by Jacqi Holloway

A special report from Suzy Berry, Resort Manager at Wyndham Flynns Beach. On Thursday 5th September, at our regular Wyndham ‘meet and greet’ – Owners’ Drinks event, we hosted a special fundraiser. 250 native plants, along with 18 advanced Koala Feed Trees were sponsored by the local community and Owners/ guests of the resort, and planted throughout the resort grounds.  This was a contribution toward the existing Wyndham/Landcare project to regenerate Wrights Creek, and will enhance the existing koala habitat. Homemade Cheesecake with macerated strawberries

09/06/2013 by Kerrianne Mackay

My dad loves cheesecake, so every Fathers Day and birthday this simple homemade cheesecake makes an appearance. You could add in your favourite flavouring – think berry, chocolate or caramel swirl, or keep it simple with some fresh seasonal fruit. This recipe makes one big cake, but you could easily turn it into individual cakes using a muffin tin and baking paper strips. Homemade cheesecake with macerated strawberries 150g (3/4 packet) arrowroot biscuits 90g flaked almonds 135g white chocolate, melted […]

what’s in an age? staying as young as you feel

08/30/2013 by Erin

How are you? Feeling a little stretched? Feeling that the numbers you complete when asked your ‘age’ don’t quite feel right? I’ve been thinking a bit about birthday’s lately – and why it is that we track the years, and set goals to achieve by the years that we live. Approaching three-zero, four-zero, five-zero… these numbers can define us – but the more I ponder, the more I talk to those approaching eight-zero and nine-zero, the more I realise the […]
