Fiji Sure Knows how to make You Feel Special – Resort Reporter Fiji #1

Wow, what a welcome! Fiji sure knows how to make you feel special.
My husband Brett and I have been here just a few hours and already I feel at home, relaxed and totally special. Even the weather has put it on for us with beautiful cool breezes and a bright pink-orange sunset against the blue of the ocean.
Ever since I got the call to say I had won the Fiji Resort Reporter competition I’ve been dreaming of coconut trees and pina coladas. But when the bags are packed and you’re waiting at the airport there’s always that niggling worry about finding your way in another country. Not in Fiji! We’ve been greeted by genuinely happy locals eager to help us feel at ease from the moment we touched down at the Nadi Airport to the happy voices of singing locals and a lei welcoming ceremony. I can see why this place is so popular for families and kids.
Just a short shuttle ride and we were being greeted by a strapping young Fijian man in traditional outfit handing out fresh fruit and flowers at the stunning Wyndham Resort Denarau Island. I can’t believe I’m in Fiji!
Welcome To Wyndham Resort Denarau Island
We’re feeling incredibly special to be one of the first to stay in the brand new rooms at the resort. This place is better than our own home! I’m already planning on earning some brownie points with our family and friends by treating them to a stay.  There’s so much room in the new rooms and everything is beautiful, fresh and modern – everything we’ve come to know of Wyndham resorts.

I’m not joking when I say photos can’t truly show off this resort. There’s palm-lined boardwalks, a huge crystal blue pool, locals on traditional Lali drums and more bars overlooking the calm ocean than you’ll ever get sick of (but I’m sure most of the other guests here will agree that the swim up bar takes the cake). I’ve already sampled quite a few of the cocktails on the menu, but I have a way to go to make it down the list. Lucky we’re on Fijian time now!

Even dinner is more special in Fiji. We ate and sipped cocktails with other happy holidaymakers as we were treated to a traditional fire dancing concert at Mamacita Restaurant…and we didn’t even have to leave the resort.
No wonder the locals are always smiling!
Moce (goodbye) until tomorrow. I can’t wait to share even more adventures.

Beautiful Fiji from Above

Been here twice before and loved it!! Can’t wait to see the recent improvements. We are off again to Fiji in February, 2014 for a three week break. Just love the locals and the bargain shopping in Nadi.

It’s one of those places everyone seems happy to visit again and again 🙂 February isn’t far now! Cheers, Jacqi
