An exceptional experience in Port Douglas

Over the course of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to travel all over the world and experience unique cultures and local customs.  While the team and I were recently in Port Douglas, Queensland conducting business at our newly refurbished Ramada Port Douglas resort we were honoured to get a glimpse into the culture of the traditional owners and custodians of the land, via the Kuku Yalanji Dreamtime Walk.

It was humbling to witness the true connection our indigenous guide had with the land, and the depth of his knowledge about it.  It’s an experience I highly recommend to any fellow Owners visiting Port Douglas. Within the first 20 metres of our walk, he had pointed out an entire pantry of bush tucker ingredients and medicinal herbs.  Had he not been there, we would have had no idea the treasures it contained.

Our guide was friendly, funny and welcoming. This combined with his attention to detail and passion for sharing his knowledge was what really made the tour exceptional for me.

It’s this kind attention to detail that makes a tourism experience truly great. At Wyndham we also strive to deliver exceptional experiences for each and every resort guest and Owner in the WorldMark South Pacific Club.

What do you think makes a holiday experience exceptional?
