Resort Reporter Fiji #79 – A Love Story: Coffs Harbour

Famed for the mandatory quirky photo snap at the Big Banana, spend a week here and you will find Coffs Harbour has many layers of subtropical delights for you to uncover.

Embraced in the arms of high mountain ranges, shimmering pure beaches and friendly locals, attention wearied metropolis dwellers, you will get your nature fix here!

It all began for us with a love story whilst holidaying at the lush Treetops Resort last year. Surrounded by a vision of deep green bushland and perfectly manicured tropical gardens, Treetops does not disappoint.

Being an owner for 8 years, you come to expect a high standard in accommodation. A fastidious traveller, I always feel satisfied when I walk through the doors of a Worldmark apartment. Our one bedroom apartment is cheerful and modern, leading out to a roomy balcony, equipped with patio setting. With a glass of wine in hand, we begin to unwind, lulled into a holiday state by the sweet coos of the local birdlife.

The resort is a nice mix of quiet and exuberance. As Charlesworth Bay Beach is only a few minutes stroll away, we head off for a day at the beach. Along the way, teenagers zoom by on motorised Segway’s and in the distance, we hear heartening laughter of children and happy mothers playing in the pool. To our delight, we find it’s a quiet cove – it feels like your own private beach!

Later, we head up around the hill and stumble upon a slightly secretive boardwalk curling around the headland. Pause here. You are greeted with specular coastal views. Around the corner, through the tall seagrass, again we’re rewarded with the sweeping seascape view of Diggers Beach.

It was a gorgeous sunset and whilst I was taking happy snaps of the breathtaking view, my man dropped to one knee and proposed! Smitten with this tropical heaven, a year on, we recently returned for a destination wedding with family and friends. I wanted to have great ‘getting ready’ photos in our apartment, and later on romantic beach shots from where we had our romantic proposal on the beach!

As an owner, Worldmark has enabled us to experience beautiful places, secure in the knowledge we will be pampered by the comforts of consistent quality accommodation, set in unforgettable locations. It’s the kind of ownership that’s creating memories for us to build upon with family and friends.

So this is how my love affair with Coffs Harbour began!
