Resort Reporter Fiji #17 – Seven Mile Beach

Having just returned from a Wyndham holiday in Tassie, at our Seven Mile Beach resort, we are really excited about our next Wyndham adventure. Where to next? It is a big part of the fun of being owners of Wyndham resorts….there are fabulous options and we are going to use them all, as soon as possible!

Seven Mile Beach resort was stunning. The first week we had a three bedroom, two storey house with a big verandah that looked into a pine forest. Furnished with teak table, chairs and lounges, and beautiful sunshine streaming down on it, on our first day lunch was Tasmanian scallops with salad and a fabulous bottle of a local sparkling wine, from grapes grown along the Derwent. Our romantic lunch was  accompanied by the music of the waves, washing onto the shores of a beautiful white sandy beach, just across the road. We followed this up with a tandem bike ride along very safe roads and pine forest tracks. We committed ourselves to walking the sea cliffs the very next day.

Seven mile Beach is very well located for touring..you can be at beautiful historic Richmond in about 30 minutes…we took a picnic to share with the ducks beside Richmond bridge, after a walking tour of the sandstone village.

Next day was the Tasman peninsula..about an hour away. Visiting stunning sea caves, tranquil inlets, rugged coastline and lovely little villages like Doo town, where nearly every cottage is called “Doo”something. Of course, Port Arthur convict settlement and gaol is here too. This is well worth a visit but not for us this time.

Gave ourselves a full day to just enjoy the fabulous resort facilities, saunas, spas and a heated pool…never thought we would be swimming is Tassie in winter, but we were! Families played with their little ones, while we had a barbecue beside the pool and then off for that walk along the beach and then up the headland and sea cliffs to the next little cove. Nothing between us and Antarctica, except ocean. There were so many wonderful things to do that we didn’t know what to do first.

We were invited to the owners’ drinks and nibbles…a great way of relaxing with other owners and getting their stories. We learn so much from other members about the club and as we are newbies, we certainly have a lot to learn, so we make sure we attend every event we can, especially the owners updates.

What a bonus! An email from Wyndham giving owners 3000 free points, so we immediately booked Monday to Friday the following week at our favourite(for now) resort, Seven Mile Beach. After a 3 day trip down the beautiful Huon Valley, with a stopover in Hobart to visit the fabulous Salamanca market, we were back. Now ensconced in a lovely one story, two bedroom…we also had a peek at a presidential suite, with a wood fire, an indoor and outdoor spa and a barbecue courtyard. Guess what I am booking for next year?
