Last July I rode in the annual bicycle ride from Townsville to Cairns raising money for the Childrens Cancer Institute of Australia. After 350km in the saddle I was ready to take a break so Zara and I spent 5 days in Far North Queensland relaxing. We had a couple of nights at WorldMark Trinity Links, just outside of Cairns. The resort is set in beautiful tropical gardens next to the Cairns Golf Club. We spent time chilling out in the resort, taking early morning walks in the golf course and wandering through Cairns enjoying the Esplanade and shopping area with its many eating, drinking and shopping opportunities.
Next we drove up to Port Douglas along the stunning coast road, sparkling tropic ocean to the right and rainforest dropping steeply down from the Atherton Tablelands on the left. We spent a few nights at Ramada Port Douglas, great pool overlooked by the bar and restaurant set in lush tropical gardens. We explored Pt Douglas in the afternoon and evenings and during the day drove to see the Daintree Forest and Mosman Gorge. We didn’t really have time to go out to the Great Barrier Reef….maybe next time!!!
