Want a perfect way to spend a day with friends, family or colleagues, learning how to cook delicious restaurant quality food in the beautiful surrounds of Mt Tamborine! Read on for some fabulous tips when visiting the Gold Coast region:
Mt Tamborine Cooking School is run by Terri Taylor who is a professional French trained chef! The cooking school is located on 2 acres of exotics, natives, rainforest, vegetable and ornamental gardens, bordered by towering white flooded gums with views over the Albert Valley to the mountains of the Scenic Rim.
Terri is friendly, gracious and incredibly patient and loves nothing better than welcoming you into her world by sharing her experience with tips and tricks to help you to produce truly delicious results.
We arrived at Terri’s house early in the morning and were immediately enthralled by the established gardens at the end of a sweeping driveway lined with hedges and agapanthus. Terri greeted us with a warm smile and offered some scrumptious orange and almond cake served with coffee to kick start our day!
We were then invited into Terri’s kitchen where she had carefully pre-arranged all ingredients into organised sections according to each dish on the menu.
Classes are demonstration style so we all enthusiastically watched Terri start the preparations for each dish and she instructed how to continue. Because we were all so eager to try our hand at preparing beautiful Italian food we all got an opportunity to get involved!
We learnt knife skills and handling, where to source fresh and unusual ingredients and professional tips and tricks to transform our cooking!!
The menu included:
Ravioli, Grilled Polenta and Mushrooms, 2 Anti pasta Vegetables (eg. Stuffed Capsicum, Fennel, aubergine rolls) Chicken Saltimbocca, Salade Caprise, Tiramisu.
When lunch was prepared, we sat down at a beautifully laid table to enjoy our creations of the morning!
What a fantastic way to bask in the serenity of Mt Tamborine and a fun way to eat amazing food!
I would highly recommend at day with Terri at her Mt Tamborine Cooking School!
