Resort Reporter Port Douglas #56 – Family Holiday

We recently had an amazing holiday in Fiji. We had my nephew’s wedding on the Coral Coast where we stayed for 4 days and then we travelled back up the coast with my family and my sisters family for 7 relaxing days at Wyndham Resort Denarau Island. Our party consisted of 10 adults and 2 little children under 3 years old staying  in a 3 bedroom and 2 bedroom apartment.

The staff at Denarau Island were really  friendly and very helpful with organising tours for our big family. Rosie’s tours (located within the resort) organised for us take a ½ day tour going to Fijian markets, and to see the gardens of the sleeping giants, with our final destination being the mud and thermal pools located nearby. You can see form the attached photos that we all had so much fun. Whilst we were at the mud pools we also took the opportunity to get a Fijian massage as an added extra. Our tour guide dropped us all off on the way back at this amazing Indian restaurant that he recommended and then came back later to wait for us and take us back to the resort. What amazing service that was – you would not get this sort of service in Australia!

The Island was so easy to get around either by walking, cycling, or by catching the Bulla bus or a taxi. There was lots of things to do to fill your day in to suit all ages from relaxing by the pool, playing golf, shopping, going over to one of the islands to spend the day doing water sports through to just cycling around the island. Our little ones loved going to kids paradise down at the Port as you can see from the photo and they loved looking for frogs and geckos’ in the gardens.

I would recommend for all owners to go and spend at least a week in Fiji. The locals, lifestyle, food, service and the variety of things to do at Denarau Island will definitely please travelers of all ages.

Bula  – Can’t wait to go back there again !!
