It’s getting closer to crunch time. For those of us with a Valentine, this is the moment to begin panicking about buying the perfect gift before the 14th of February!
May I recommend a weekend away? Tried and tested, certainly; nothing says ‘I love you’ quite like surprising your partner with two days of gourmet food, quality wine and relaxation.
But where to go?
If you live near a WorldMark destination, a short road trip means a no-fuss weekend that won’t break the bank. Even better, stay at a resort on Valentine’s Day itself (next Thursday) to take advantage of cheaper Credit rates. Or, go all out – Fiji is a holiday that they won’t forget in a hurry!
Here is my guide to Valentine’s Day, WorldMark style…
Tip: Ballarat is full of elegant historical architecture. Keep an eye out for the stunning Botanical Gardens or Yuulong Lavender Estate.
Dunsborough, Margaret River region, Western Australia
Tip: Margaret River is the gourmet food and wine region of WA. Visit one of the many wineries or the Margaret River Chocolate Factory.
Wanaka, South Island, New Zealand
Tip: Wanaka showcases New Zealand’s beautiful scenery at every turn. Why not go bushwalking in Lord of the Rings surrounds or visit Rippon Winery?
Port Douglas, Queensland
Tip: Port Douglas is the only place on Earth where two World Heritage listed areas meet: the Great Barrier Reef, and the Daintree Rainforest. Certainly makes for a unique Valentine’s Day!
Coffs Harbour, New South Wales
Tip: Coffs Harbour is your coastal escape in NSW. You can get up close and personal at the Pet Porpoise Pool, with free daily kisses from seals and dolphins!
Denarau Island, Fiji
Tip: Relax in Fiji – the friendliest place on Earth! Luxuriate in a massage, or chill out with a round of golf.
There’s still time to plan the perfect trip with your loved one (all the resorts above have availability between 11 – 17 February 2013 at time of publishing this post).

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
